About the Me:

My name is Thom Glynn Larkin and I am 26 currently living in Portland, Ore.  I have been a photographer for over ten years, first shooting film for the high school yearbook and learning dark room techniques, to eventually switching to digital photography and working for weekly and daily newspapers.  I studied Photojournalism at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore. and minored in Shakespeare.  While in Ashland, I worked as a photographer for the Ashland Daily Tidings for almost two years, covering sports, education, political events, breaking news, local businesses, ect.  I also had a weekly photo story,  “Hike of the Week” which was a guide to trails in Southern Oregon.

In 2009, I was selected to be a member of Project Helping Hands Sudan team.  I was the team photographer for the group of 19 volunteers from throughout the United States.  See the Uganda & Sudan 2009 page. I am currently working on being able to join future teams to Uganda, Haiti, Bolivia, and the Philippines.  I am also a certified SCUBA diver and am planning on shooting dives in Hawaii, Australia, Africa and the Mediterranean in my future.

What kind of photography do I enjoy the most?

My passion lays outdoors.  From photographing a weekly hike, to a beautiful sunset, an awesome waterfall, flock of birds, or a creepy crawly critter, I am on it.

Music photography is another favorite.  This past summer I have been lucky enough to get to cover the Britt Music Festival for the Tidings, and has been able to cover Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, Earth, Wind and Fire, Punch Brothers, Black Crowes and more to come before the summer is over.

What is my goal with photography?

My passion is capturing the beauty of the moment in its most natural state.  From a jaw-dropping sunset, to the wonders of the stars, to the intricate details of a dragonfly, and the joy someone can get from a 100% genuine laugh.  I hope to share these everyday moments with as many people as I can everyday.  The world is worth sharing with everyone on it.
