About the Thom Larkin:
My name is Thom Larkin. I am a Southern Oregon University graduate with a degree in Photojournalism and have worked with the Ashland Daily Tidings for over a year and a half shooting a variety of events such as sports, protests, business stories, bomb scares, political visits and the weekly “Hike of the Week.”
I am also a certified SCUBA diver and am planning on shooting dives in Hawaii, Australia, Africa and the Mediterranean in my future hopefully.
While in Ashland, Oregon, I also received a minor from SOU in Shakespeare Studies, and what better town to do it than the one with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
What kind of photography do I enjoy the most?
My passion lays outdoors. From photographing a weekly hike, to a beautiful sunset, an awesome waterfall, flock of birds, or a creepy crawly critter, I am on it.
Music photography is another favorite. This past summer I have been lucky enough to get to cover the Britt Music Festival for the Tidings, and has been able to cover Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, Earth, Wind and Fire, Punch Brothers, Black Crowes and more to come before the summer is over.
What is my goal with photography?
I hope to travel the world, telling local stories on a large scale. I plan on joining the Peace Corps to open the door opportunity of travel within the next year. From there I plan on traveling to Africa, Europe, and hopefully South America. I hope to be able to tell the stories of those who aren’t able share their stories.
My passion is capturing the beauty of the moment in its most natural state. From a jaw-dropping sunset, to the wonders of the stars, to the intricate details of a dragonfly, and the joy someone can get from a 100% genuine laugh. I hope to share these everyday moments with as many people as I can everyday. The world is worth sharing with everyone on it.
